Thomistic Institute releases 19 free courses on modern topics addressed by St. Thomas Aquinas

WASHINGTON, DC, August 27, 2024 – Can the writings of a Catholic theologian from 800 years ago help interpret reality? That’s what the new Aquinas 101 digital learning platform is designed to teach through short, engaging videos produced by the Thomistic Institute and rooted in the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas.

To view the courses available, please see Aquinas101.com. Watch the trailer here.

“For centuries, St. Thomas’s philosophical and theological teachings have helped countless men and women pursue truth, deepen their faith, and develop a holistic understanding of the human person,” said Father Gregory Pine, O.P., a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph and an assistant director of the Thomistic Institute.

“In this modern era, we have developed Aquinas 101 to be accessible to anyone who would like to deepen their faith or learn about any number of important topics relevant to their daily lives as Catholics.”

Launched in 2019, the Aquinas 101 YouTube channel has successfully met a growing interest in Thomistic thought, garnering over 127,000 subscribers and 10 million views.

The new Aquinas 101 digital platform allows users to create personalized accounts, resume their learning seamlessly, and earn certificates of achievement as they track their progress. They can also submit questions to Dominican friars and read a digital Summa theologiae.

Currently, Aquinas 101 offers 19 courses, with topics ranging from “Who is God?” and “Does Science Explain Everything?” to “The Sacraments and Salvation.” There are also dozens of videos on the sacraments, creation and evolution, the existence of God, miracles, and much more.

“Anyone interested in going deeper into the Catholic faith, especially how it pertains to bigger questions of faith, science, reason, and grace will enjoy Aquinas 101 and walk away with a greater knowledge of Catholicism and answers to some of life’s deepest curiosities,” said Father Gregory Pine, O.P. “And, thanks to generous support, this digital learning platform is completely free to use and learn from.”

The Thomistic Institute is a research institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. Promoting Catholic truth in the contemporary university is the primary focus of their work.
