About the speaker:

Donald S. Prudlo received his PhD (2004) at the University of Virginia, studying under Fr. Augustine Thompson, O.P. He currently holds the Warren Chair of Catholic Studies at the University of Tulsa. He is the author of books on medieval religious history, on saints and sainthood, and on the Dominican order. His first book was on Peter of Verona, O.P., The Martyred Inquisitor. In 2015, Prudlo analyzed the relation between canonization and papal infallibility in his Certain Sainthood. Recently he wrote a contextual biography of Thomas Aquinas for Paulist Press. Active in paleography and translation, he has published both the Life of Peter of Verona by Thomas Agni, as well as the saint’s Summa contra Hereticos, a comprehensive thirteenth-century repudiation of religious unorthodoxy. Recently he has released a book offering the first English translation of Bartholomew of the Martyrs, O.P.’s Stimulus Pastorum, and a work examining sanctity and administration, called Governing Perfection, as well as co-authoring a book on the Church and the free market, focusing on St. Omobono of Cremona. Currently he is finishing a history of the early Dominican Order and is looking forward to his next project on the implications of the Incarnation. He is a contributor to the Vatican News service and regularly serves as commentator for papal conclaves and canonizations. One of his favorite activities has been taking students to Rome over the last 20 years.
