His academic work lies at the intersection of philosophy, law, and the humanities, with particular emphasis on natural law theory, practical reason, human dignity, and the relationship between ethics, law, and culture. His research also encompasses major figures in ancient and contemporary philosophy, including Plato, Heidegger, and John Finnis.

Professor Pinheiro is the author of several books, including The Crisis of Culture and the Order of Love, Virtues in Everyday Life, The Minimum on Philosophy, On the Path of Virtues, Love of Wisdom, and Love of the Beautiful and the Good: Studies on Plato’s Republic and Symposium. His scholarly work includes numerous articles and book chapters on natural law, philosophy of law, human dignity, bioethics, and classical and contemporary philosophy.

He has also edited and organized several major philosophical and legal publications. He was involved in the publication of the works of Brazilian philosopher Benedito Nunes, a project recognized with the Jabuti Prize, one of Brazil’s most prestigious literary awards. He is the general editor of the bilingual Portuguese-Greek edition of Plato’s dialogues published by the Federal University of Pará Press, and coordinates the Natural Law Theory Collection. He has also edited volumes on the natural law philosophy of John Finnis and Human Dignity and the Right to Life: Studies in Philosophy, Law, and Bioethics.
