About the speaker:
Gabriel de Vitto is a doctoral candidate in Philosophy at the Universidad de Navarra (Spain). He holds a master's degree in Philosophy from PUC-SP, where he was a CAPES scholar, and a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the Centro Universitário Ítalo-Brasileiro; he also studied Accounting at FEA-USP (School of Economics, Business, and Accounting of the University of São Paulo). He teaches Philosophical Anthropology in the Core Curriculum at Faculdade Belavista, coordinates the postgraduate program in Anthropology and Ethics at Faculdade Focus, and has also taught Philosophy at Centro Universitário Ingá (Uningá/Academia Atlântico).
He works chiefly in Medieval and Contemporary Philosophy (above all phenomenology), with an emphasis on Metaphysics, Epistemology, and Philosophical Anthropology. He has studied with particular dedication contemporary Thomism, realist phenomenology, personalism, the metaphysical aspects of Communio theology, and the thought of Edmund Husserl.
He researched the philosophy of Adolf Reinach in his master's work and is currently investigating the interrelations between the phenomenological method (from both realist and transcendental perspectives) and the Thomistic doctrine of the transcendentals of being. In publishing, he has translated or edited into Portuguese works by authors such as Jacques Maritain, Edith Stein, Alasdair MacIntyre, and Martin Rhonheimer.
