About the speaker:
Dr. Matthew Cuddeback received his PhD in philosophy from The Catholic University of America and for 25 years has taught at Providence College, where he is a member of the Department of Philosophy and the Humanities Program. He teaches the works of the perennial tradition in the college’s core, interdisciplinary Development of Western Civilization course. For the last decade he has assisted the diocese of Providence in preparing couples for marriage. His teaching life is rooted in the anthropology of St. Thomas Aquinas and takes inspiration from St. John Paul II’s 1998 encyclical Fides et Ratio: philosophy must recover its “sapiential dimension” (§81) and should seek to “philosophize in Mary” (§108).
