About the Speaker:

J. Budziszewski is a professor of government and philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin.  He is an authority on natural law, divine law, moral character, moral self-deception, happiness, and ultimate purpose, and is widely read on the topics of family and sexuality, religion and public life, toleration and liberty, and the unraveling of our common culture. 

His books for a broad audience include the most recent, How and How Not to Be Happy, as well as How to Stay Christian in College, On the Meaning of Sex, and What We Can’t Not Know: A Guide.  His most recent academic books are a series of line-by-line commentaries on Saint Thomas Aquinas, including Commentary on Thomas Aquinas’s Treatise on Divine Law, which was published during the pandemic.  You can find out more at his personal website, The Underground Thomist, which includes a popular weekly blog. 

Married for more than 50 years, Dr. Budziszewski has several children and a clutch of grandchildren.  Presently he is completing a commentary on Thomas Aquinas’s doctrine of God.
