Lecture Description:

In 1979, Pope St. John Paul II began a five-year series of Wednesday talks about love, marriage, and the human body. His theology of the body opened up a new way for modern Catholics to understand the importance of sexuality and love. Father Petri will explore ways in which the pope’s thought builds from the insights of the great Dominican Doctor of the Church, St. Thomas Aquinas.
 

Speaker Bio:

Fr. Thomas Petri, OP is Vice President and Academic Dean of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception (Dominican House of Studies) in Washington, DC. He holds a doctorate theology from the Catholic University of America and specializes in moral theology. He is the author of Aquinas and the Theology of the Body: The Thomistic Foundations of John Paul II’s Anthropology published by CUA Press. He appears regularly on EWTN and is on Twitter
