Lecture Description:

Many people dismiss the existence angels and demons as the stuff of childish imagination and fanciful stories. By contrast, Christians insist upon the reality of angels and demons and the Christian intellectual tradition provides a robust account of their existence, natures, and influence. Thomas Aquinas, the “Angelic Doctor,”  offers a comprehensive treatment of the angels and equips one with the philosophical and theological resources needed to take delight in contemplating the angels. Reflecting on the existence and activity of pure spirits can give us a great insight into human nature and make us aware of the important intermediary role of the angels and the harmful influence exercised by demons.

Speaker Bio:

Fr. Raymund Snyder, OP is the Director of Campus Programs and Evangelization for the Thomistic Institute. He studied philosophy and classics at the University of Notre Dame and entered the Order of Preachers in 2010. He holds a licentiate in philosophy from the Catholic University of America. His academic interests include metaphysics, natural Theology, Neoplatonism, angels, and the theology of grace.
