The Holy Trinity | Online Summa Reading Group for current students

Zoom

Join Fr. John Baptist Ku, O.P. (Dominican House of Studies) and other current students for this online Summa Reading Group! The group will meet on Tuesdays between November 4 and December 2 (no class on November 25) to discuss short readings on the Holy Trinity. This reading group is open to current students, with priority given to applicants from Ave Maria University!

Description:

In this online seminar, we will read key articles in St. Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologiae concerning the Trinity. Because of the demands on students to master numerous and diverse topics, often religious education ends up relegated to second place—leaving even elite academically advanced Christians with a grade school level understanding of God the Trinity. This seminar will attempt to redress such an imbalance by examining: ancient Trinitarian heresies, the processions of divine persons in God according to knowledge and love, and the unique power of the concept of “relation.”

Readings:

  • ST I, q. 27, a. 1

  • ST I, q. 27, a. 4

  • ST I, q. 28, a. 1

  • ST I, q. 28, a. 2
