Justice and Mercy Shall Meet: God’s Compassion - A Summa Reading Group

Zoom

Join Prof. John O’Callaghan (University of Notre Dame) and other students to discuss Aquinas on sin as presented in the Summa Theologiae. The group will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays between November 2 and November 30 (no meeting on Nov 23, Thanksgiving Day) to discuss short readings on the reading group’s theme.

Description:

What is justice?  What is mercy? Does mercy violate justice?  Is mercy shown in all of God's works, even in the punishment of the damned?  What does it mean to say that "mercy superabounds justice?"  "The foundation of divine justice is divine mercy."  What?  Questions.  Questions.  So many questions.
