Dominican House of Studies | Washington, DC
The most fundamental truth about us is that we are creatures, created beings granted the astonishing gift of existence from a Creator who loves us. Man is further granted the gift of being created in the image of God.
In this retreat, we will consider the vocation of every created person to serve as God's representative on earth and the way a Christian transforms or grows into an image of God. Additionally, we will consider St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas’s understanding of the image of God being evident in the soul's activities of remembering, knowing, and loving God, and Pope St. John Paul II's understanding of the body's participation in that imaging in the soul's encounter with the world, in interpersonal communion, and in the spiritual life.
The retreat will have seminars and discussions framed by the traditional elements of a retreat (Mass, adoration, Divine Office, etc.). The event is primarily for the leaders of Thomistic Institute student chapters, but is open to other students and young adults who express interest.
