Living Arrangements and Community Life
The Thomistic Institute houses all students in a guest house called “Villa Irlanda” on the grounds of the Irish College*, a small, gated campus located within the walls of the ancient city. Imagine living mere steps from the Lateran Basilica and the Colosseum! The location offers easy access to the Angelicum and to the rest of Rome, whether on foot, by bus, or by metro.
Students live in comfortable, double-occupancy rooms (with private bathrooms), and have access to the campus’ library, chapel, small gym, laundry facilities, and soccer field. The Irish College provides students with all meals, including a full Italian pranzo (with pasta!) daily.
The TI Study Abroad Program places a strong emphasis on community. While most other Rome programs house students in apartments scattered throughout the city, the TI program chooses to house all students together to create the opportunity for intellectual conversations to continue beyond the classroom. Our students find that the opportunity to live, eat, and explore with their peers greatly enriches their experience in Rome.

“I formed deep and lasting friendships with the students in this program. We travel together, talk together, laugh together, pray together. The community we built really is like a family. Living in a community with other students . . . has been one of the richest blessings of this program.”
