Lecture Description:

The Catholic doctrine of salvation is often mistakenly depicted as “works righteousness” that diminishes the role of divine grace in one’s justification.  In this lecture, Professor Francis Beckwith explains what the Catholic Church actually proclaims, and how his own better understanding of the teaching was instrumental in his return to the Catholic Church.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Francis Beckwith is Professor of Philosophy and Church-State Studies, and Co-Director of the Program in Philosophical Studies of Religion in the Institute for Studies of Religion, at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. His most recent book is Taking Rites Seriously: Law, Politics, and the Reasonableness of Faith (Cambridge University Press).
